The Relays.dat file is created in the actionsite of the deployment and is found on TEM Client computers at C:\BigFix Enterprise\BES Client\__BESData\actionsite.

Relays.dat contains information used in the TEM relay selection algorithm.

The relays.dat file is not human readable, however you can turn it into a human readable format by using the ParseRelaysDotDat.exe tool (http://software.bigfix.com/download/bes/util/ParseRelaysDotDat.exe)

The tool has recently been updated to format the following relay affiliation information.

For each entry in the Relays.dat file, the tool prints out:

Affiliation :

"Unaffiliated" if this Relay does not advertise any affiliation, otherwise the Relay's affiliation group Name :

The host name of the Relay

Port:

Should always be the same as the deployment port (usually 52311)

Priority :

The priority group of this Relay (all "0" Relays are tried before all "1" Relays, etc.)

Weight :

The relative weight of this Relay next to other Relays that appear to be at the same distance.

If a Relay has multiple affiliations, it will have multiple entries in the Relays.dat file, one for each affiliation. Thus, if you want to see all the affiliations of a single Relay, you'll have to search through the output for all occurrences of that Relay name.

Example 1:

>ParseRelaysDotDat.exe Relays.dat

Name: Darkwing.bigfix.com.

Port: 52311

Priority: 0

Weight: 0

Example 2:
